Sullivan Barrera calls out Marcus Browne!
Former interim WBA Light Heavyweight champion Marcus “Sir” Browne (23-1, 16KOs) is on the prowl for a new opponent. This all comes after former WBO Super Middleweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (41-0, 27KOs) pulled out of negotiations for their WBC title eliminator. That withdrawal from Ramirez is disappointing because their bout had major potential to be an explosive fight.

With Ramirez now out of the picture, Browne has an open slot to fill. Longtime light heavyweight contender and former world title challenger Sullivan Barrera (22-3, 14KOs) has thrown out the challenge to the former 2012 U.S Olympian on Twitter. Browne replied to the tweet telling Barrera to set it up! This fight makes sense, especially for Barrera who is ranked number nine in the WBC rankings while Browne is ranked number three.
A win would put both men in line for a shot at unified champion Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15KOs). Barrera has not fought since losing to Jesse Hart in June of 2019. As for Browne, he has not fought since losing his first career fight to former WBC Light Heavyweight champion Jean Pascal in August of 2019.
The experience of Barrera and Browne’s power and youthfulness make this match-up interesting. Let’s hope this fight comes to fruition.
