Tank Issues A Demand In Order To Fight Haney In Saudi Arabia

WBA lightweight champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid, widely known as Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27KO), has responded to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s desire to arrange a bout between him and WBC junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15KO).

Boxing has flourished in the Middle East, thanks in large part to the efforts of Alalshikh. During an interview on DAZN Boxing, he expressed his wish to bring fans the fights they want to see.

Alalshikh had a list of desired matchups, one of them being Tank versus The Dream. The ongoing feud between these two champions remains one of the hottest topics in boxing.

THE CHAMPION HAS A DEMAND

Social media buzzed early this morning after Tank, in a since-deleted tweet, responded to a fan about fighting in the Middle East with a small demand.

“They made me mad; if they want me, they gotta send me something to my front door . . . like 2 Ferraris or sum!”

“Like, before I even think about going over there.”

Davis’ demand is not out of reach when considering the type of money Alalshikh has at his disposal. Two Ferraris wouldn’t even make the Saudis raise an eyebrow, if it means getting a conversation going.

Some boxing fans are on board with any idea that can get these two rivals in the ring. However, the majority of fans would want to see that fight take place in a location they can go and see, like Las Vegas. This author is in favor of anything that would finally bring an end to this ongoing rivalry.

The WBA champion was recently elevated to super champion status by the organization and hasn’t been in the ring since defeating Ryan Garcia in February 2023.

The boxing community continues to wait in anticipation for the mega-showdown between Davis and Haney.
