Katie Taylor v Karen Elizabeth Carbajal Set for October 29!
3Kings Boxing has learned that undisputed women’s lightweight champ Katie Taylor (21-0, 6 KO) will return to the ring on October 29 to defend her titles against Karen Elizabeth Carbajal (19-0, 2 KOs) at the Wembley Arena in London, live on DAZN.
The last time fans saw Taylor in the ring was in April 2022, when she defended her titles with an epic split decision victory over unified featherweight champ Amanda Serrano. Taking place at the famed Madison Square Garden, Taylor was on the verge of getting stopped in the middle rounds. But the 36-year-old from Bray, Ireland rallied in the second half to pull off what was a dramatic win. A true super-fight for women’s boxing, the highly-anticipated battle exceeded expectations.
She now will face Carbajal, a 32-year-old from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The challenger is very much an unknown quantity. While she sports an undefeated record, her victories have come against subpar opposition. In an interesting side-note, Carbajal’s promoter is ex-WBA world welterweight champion Marcos Maidana.
Taylor’s mission is to win and use this upcoming bout as a springboard to a possible rematch with Serrano. For Carbajal, this is her first time fighting away from her homeland. She has visions of scoring what most experts would consider a major upset.
