Katie Taylor vs Delfine Persoon set for undisputed clash on Joshua vs Miller under-card!
3kingsboxing.com has learned another undisputed women’s showdown will happen on June 1 when WBC lightweight champion Delfine Persoon takes on WBA, WBO and IBF champion Katie Taylor.
Persoon (48-1, 18KOs) has been dominant since taking the WBC title from then undefeated Erica Anabella Farias. At the time, Farias was a dominant champion; amassing eight title defenses over a two and a half year period.
Since, Persoon has defended her title nine times which makes her the longest reigning champion in the division. In addition, she has won 33 consecutive bouts since her lone loss in 2010. She defeated well known contender Melissa St. Vil via seventh round stoppage in March.
Taylor (13-0 6KOs) has been a force in similar fashion as recently crowned undisputed queen Claressa Shields since joining the professional ranks. She quickly became a unified champion and recently picked up the third trinket by stopping undefeated Rose Volante in nine.
This bout was bound to happen once Taylor defeated Volante in March. It was the only thing her fans and supporters could talk about. Now we have a fight!
The winner will become only the third female undisputed champion in female boxing history. This coming on the heels of only producing it’s second on April 13!
