Team Wilder Still Chasing an Andy Ruiz Fight
It appears that Team Wilder is still in the market for a showdown with one-time heavyweight champion Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz (35-2, 22 KO’s). Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KO’s) has pursued a bout with Ruiz for quite some time. When the two first began woofing at one another, it appeared that this would be easy to make. Both gave the outward impression they were down for the scrap and they both are housed in the PBC stable. Nevertheless, the duel never came to be. Now however, Malik Scott, Wilder’s chief second, has taken to his social media accounts to resume the hunt for Ruiz.
At the moment, Ruiz has been out of action for just under a full year and should be in the market for a fight. Still ranked #1 (WBO), #2 (WBC), and #7 (IBF), Ruiz remains a major player in the division. Armed with his standings, a win over the heavy-handed Wilder would only manage to improve his reputation and marketability, Yet, we will have to wait and see what comes next for Wilder and Ruiz. Let’s just hope that we don’t have that much longer!
