Teofimo Lopez Easily Retains Title Against Steve Claggett

WBO junior welterweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13KO) easily retained the title against Steve “The Dragon” Claggett (38-8-2, 26KO).

The Takeover could have fought at a distance but decided to fight in a phonebooth and was scoring with the overhand right.

The Dragon continued to come forward looking to apply pressure. Although he landed a few good shots, he kept getting hit by countershots and uppercuts.

The next couple of rounds was like watching a sparring session. Claggett kept coming forward and landing shots while the WBO champion was against the ropes. Yet, Lopez kept landing those uppercuts repeatedly and continued to dig into the body.

Needing to make a statement, Lopez walked away with a unanimous decision victory.

After complaining about fighting a mover like Jamaine Ortiz, he failed to score a knockdown against a fighter who was hit repeatedly.

Lopez’s power will come under question by boxing fans as he announced a move to welterweight could be next.
