Teofimo Lopez Is Serious About Fighting Terence Crawford
Reigning WBO junior welterweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez (19-1, 13KO) is looking to continue the path toward a fight with unified welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO).
The Takeover’s beef with his fellow stablemate had boxing fans in an uproar. He criticized Bud’s run at welterweight by taking shots at the opponents.
Of course, this caused an immediate response from Crawford, who advised Lopez to worry about his own weight class. Although their feud went viral on social media, most boxing fans dismissed the back and forth claiming the fight won’t happen.
HE IS SERIOUS ABOUT MAKING THE FIGHT
It seems Lopez is serious about wanting to face Crawford. While talking to fans live on social media, fans inquired about his intentions to challenge the unified welterweight champion.
“Do I want Crawford? Absolutely, what kind of question is that? See y’all don’t understand, man. I aim for greatness, and what is that, fighting the best? Crawford says he’s the best, I know I’m the best, let’s make the fight happen.”
Lopez emphasized that Ortiz is the first order of business before moving on to Crawford.
“First thing, first though, we got to knockout this guy out of the way. He’s in front of me, Jamaine Ortiz.”
Crawford is tied up waiting to see what will happen with the rematch against one-time unified champion Errol Spence Jr. So, even if The Takeover does go up to welterweight, there is no guarantee the fight will happen.
Boxing enthusiasts will closely watch Lopez’s fight with Ortiz to see if he follows through on his word, provided he emerges victorious.
