Tevin Farmer Confident Raymond Murtalla is the One to Try!

When southpaw lightweight fighter Tevin “American Idol” Farmer (33-5-1, 8 KO’s) next steps in the ring, he fully understands that he has something to prove to the boxing world. In that duel Farmer will face the talented and undefeated boxer Raymond “Danger” Muratalla (20-0, 16 KO’s).

Without question, Muratalla will represent Farmer’s stiffest test since returning from his three-year hiatus from the sport. Yet, as he explained to Fight Hype, the Philly native is fully aware of this and acknowledges this is exactly why he selected this opponent.

“I think Raymond is one of the best contenders right now to fight for a world title soon; Very soon and I got to go show that I can still dominate these young, hungry athletes. And I feel like Raymond Muratalla was the perfect guy because he is so close to a world title. That would just put me back automatically, that’s all I got to do.”

“I don’t have to do much. People just want to know and see because they haven’t seen me – that I can still compete effortlessly at this level . . . The world no longer knows. They know what Tevin Farmer used to be; they don’t know what Tevin Farmer is now. It’s been a few years since national TV has actually seen me, but just know, they are in for something amazing, spectacular!”

BLUE SKIES OR THE BRICK WALL?!

Since suffering his last loss at the hands of Joseph Diaz back on January 30, 2020, Farmer has collected the scalps of Avery Sparrow, Oscar Barajas and Alan Castillo. He even managed to win the last two affairs by stoppage. Admittedly though, these opponents certainly were not setting the world on fire. Yet, that is why American Idol feels that a win on the #2 (WBO), #2 (WBC) and #4 (IBF) ranked Muratalla is coming at the perfect time.

In many respects, this is a must-win duel for both men. For Farmer, ranked #12 (WBO), a loss to a top contender at this point in his career would essentially send him to the back of the line for any kind of consideration for a title fight . Likewise, a loss for Danger, while not the end of the world, would certainly rob him of the great forward momentum that he has established in the sport, thus far.

So, with this much on the line for both competitors, it will be very intriguing to see what type of performances they turn in this July 13!
