Trout/Charlo: A Visual Sequel Only
Austin Trout, a former junior middleweight champion, has yet another chance to become a champion as he battles WBC junior middleweight champion and undefeated Jermell Charlo next weekend.
This won’t be the first time Trout has been in the ring with a Charlo brother. Back in May of 2016 he battled Jermell’s older twin brother Jermall where he lost a unanimous decision in a fight that was genuinely close.
Trout is clearly past his prime losing 2 of his last 3 fights. In his most recent notable fight, against now unified junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd, he got off to a fast start winning a lot of the early rounds. But, as the fight wore on the bigger, younger and stronger Hurd took over and ended up stopping Trout in the tenth round.
Trout though feels like this fight with Jermell Charlo will be different than his fights with Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd due to the significant size advantages they had. He feels Jermell is more of his size.
While the younger Charlo may be closer to Trout’s size that doesn’t mean anything . Skills pay the bills, size advantage or not and Jermell Charlo has a lot of them.
We’ll see if the former WBA champion can turn back the clock and upset the undefeated champion next weekend.
