Tim Tszyu Looks Forward To Facing Undisputed Champion Jermell Charlo Next
Tim Tszyu (22-0, 16 KOs) is coming off a ninth-round stoppage of Tony Harrison to win the WBO Interim junior middleweight title in front of a packed Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. Next for Tszyu is a showdown against undisputed champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs). Following victory over Harrison, Tszyu had a message for his upcoming foe.
“The message was sent, clearly. You know what’s up; you know what’s next. I’m coming, I’m coming to America!”
BRING ON THE IRON MAN
Tszyu and Charlo were in-line to face one another in January 2023 in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Charlo broke his left hand while training, and the fight was postponed. With Charlo out of action and the Aussie looking to get back in the ring following a lengthy layoff, Harrison accepted the challenge of going to Tzyu’s backyard to fight for the WBO Interim strap.
Doing live, in-studio commentary of Tszyu vs Harrison for SHOWTIME, Charlo said his hand is doing well and forecasts a return to action this summer. The anticipation is that when he does fight again, it will be Tszyu. Observers have their finger-crossed they see Charlo and Tszyu finally square off against one another.
