Martin Bakole Reveals Stopping Daniels Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk In Sparring
Number two-ranked WBA heavyweight Martin Bakole (18-1, 13KO) is ready to compete for a world championship. However, he has social media in a frenzy after with a big revelation. Bakole says, in sparring, he stopped WBA Regular champion Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18KO) and unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13KO).
It’s not uncommon for top contenders to be invited to a training camp to help other top-level fighters prepare for a tough opponent. Typically the team will look for sparring partners that fit the same physical criteria as their fighter’s upcoming opponent.
BAKOLE CLAIMS TO HAVE STOPPED BOTH DUBOIS AND USYK
Bakole refuses to spar anymore of the top fighters out of fear they won’t fight him afterward. The 29 year-old appeared on a Sky Sports Fight Night segment. He quickly got the boxing community buzzing by claiming to have stopped Dubois and Usyk in sparring.
“I stopped him twice in sparring. He knows, and his team, they know. So I think I’ll stop him in the first or second round . . . I’m good with the WBA. I’m number two ranking, so why not? WBA, Daniel Dubois.”
“Even Usyk, I don’t think he’ll say yes because I stopped him as well in Dubai in sparring. Everybody knows how good I am. I don’t think he’ll say yes again to fight me as well.”
The unified champion is on target to face WBC champion Tyson Fury for the undisputed crown after finally reaching a verbal agreement to avoid the WBA ordering Uysk – Dubois. Boxing fans shouldn’t be surprised that Bakole is targeting Dubois. In December 2022, he made it clear that a knockout is waiting for the WBA champion during an interview with iFL TV.
