Turki Alalshikh Is Targeting Jaron Ennis vs Terence Crawford
Saudi Arabia’s boxing power player Turki Alalshikh is looking to stage another big fight featuring unified welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO) and IBF champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (32-0, 29KO).
There is no doubt that Alalshikh has been a major player in the sport. He has consistently claimed to work for the fans and not the promoters, which has received praise from the boxing community. Bud versus Boots has been a hot topic with fans for a long time.
After dispatching a former victim of Bud’s in David Avanesyan, Ennis’ fifth-round stoppage performance was instantly compared to the unified champion’s sixth round knockout victory.
CAN HE DELIVER THE FIGHT FOR THE FANS
With fans talking about these two fighters needing to fight, Alalshikh took to social media with a message for the boxing public.
When Ennis signed with Matchroom Boxing’s Chairman Eddie Hearn, the belief was a fight with Crawford is a good possiblity. The connection with Alashikh has been profitable for the British promoter and it seems the Philadelphian could be on the verge of benefiting from it.
The Saudia Arabian is also responsible for the stacked undercard of WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov versus Crawford on August 3. So, if victorious there is a good chance the push to make Crawford vs Ennis a reality will start that night.
Team Ennis would jump at the chance of facing the unified champion even if it means moving up. Crawford wouldn’t have any problem taking the fight for the right price.
