Turki Alalshikh Needs Better Undercard Picks for September 13
Turki Alalshikh disappointed boxing fans with an undercard wishlist for the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s fight against multi-divisional champion Terence Crawford. Several boxing fans took to social media to express they don’t approve of the names listed below.
Alalshikh wants to put some fresh faces on the undercard, but in a mega-fight, he needs to add another top fighter. The idea of hoping the main event is enough to carry the entire card may turn out to be poor judgment. With the fight being on Netflix, people will wait and only tune in for the main event.
In this author’s opinion, Alalshikh can’t afford another failed Pay-Per-View. Furthermore, he is spending the bulk of the fight purse, which doesn’t leave much room at the financial table for another top name.
As of the writing of this article, three-divisional champion Junto Nakatani hasn’t responded. Yet, Nakatani isn’t a big enough name to make people tune in early. Plus, the Japanese superstar wants to fight undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue.
Alalshikh is making a tremendous mistake by not adding one more fight featuring two top names.
