Tyler Denny Scores Biggest Career Win Over Felix Cash
Tyler Denny (19-2-3, 1KO) retained the EBU middleweight title by taking away the “O” of Felix Cash (16-1, 10KO). Denny’s victory over Cash can be viewed as the biggest win of his career.
Realizing his opponent been out of the ring for 18 months, Denny quickly attacked and landed the right hand repeatedly. His early body attack had Cash visibly breathing heavily.
A clash of heads caused a cut on Cash’s right eyelid, as he continued to get hit with left and right hook countershots. Refusing to give up, Cash came forward and landed a few righthands and body shots.
Denny used hand speed, the jab, and a good inside fighting game to take control of the fight. In round four, Cash finally started landing meaningful punches before getting rocked by a counter left hook.
In the fifth round, the ring doctor stopped the fight due to the blood dripping in Cash’s eye. The fight went past four rounds, so it went to the judges, who scored it 49-47 twice and 49-46 in favor of Denny.
Cash paid a costly price by taking a long layoff and not living the fighter’s lifestyle.
