Tyson Fury Set To Be Stripped Of Last Belt

Fury to be stripped of Ring Magazine title

Tyson Fury is set to lose the one remaining belt he has left following his shock victory of Wladimir Klitschko. Fury won the WBA, IBF & WBO belts, along with ‘The Ring’ magazine championship in Germany, November 2015.

Since then Fury’s problems outside the ring have been well documented. Drugs and depression led to him losing his titles without losing in the ring. These belts have since been picked up by Anthony Joshua (WBA & IBF) & Joseph Parker (WBO). However, The Ring Magazine still recognises him as the #1 fighter in the division as he simply was ‘the man who beat the man’.

However, his hold on that belt will soon be over. Recently, The Ring stated that he would be relieved of his title should he not have a scheduled defence in place by the 1stFebruary. Given that the 1stFebruary is tomorrow. Fury does not have to defend his title to a top 5 contender as they are all in action in scheduled bouts. However, they do have to be well ranked.

Social media has seen plenty of action from ’The Gypsy King’ as he is busy working new trainer Ben Davidson to get back into fighting shape. Should Fury be stripped it was rumoured that the winner of the Anthony Joshua/Joseph Parker bout could be the Ring’s new champion at Heavyweight. However, because American champion Deontay Wilder is such a strong contender they have elected not to do that.

  1. The all important detail to this story is that although the British Boxing Board of Control opened the door for him to get his boxing license back it did come with the proviso that Tyson Fury deliver certified medical evidence proving that he is both mentally & physically fit to fight once more. As of today’s date he has failed to do that and as such he has no license to box and is not in a position to legally arrange a fight.

Fury may well talk of calling out the likes of Wilder, Joshua etc, and he may well talk of potential multi-fight deals with promoter Frank Warren, but none of these can come to reality if he does not possess a license to fight. Without a license it is all pipe dreams.

    • Actually Frank Warren said he was supplying that info on his behalf to the board weeks ago … the board said he now just has to pass a medical
