Chantelle Cameron As An Undisputed Champion Has Many Options

Undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (17-0, 8KO) is without a dance partner as two-time champion Christina “Medusa” Linardatou is no longer an option. When looking down the rankings there are a few other viable options for the undisputed champion.

Cameron was ordered to defend the undisputed crown against the returning Linardatou, named mandatory by the WBO. The organization turned up the heat after the teams could not reach an agreement and was ready to proceed with a purse bid.

Before the purse bid order went into effect, Linardatou decided to go a different route and is rumored to be fighting former unified junior lightweight champion Mikaela Mayer.

It’s no secret that Cameron wants to fight for Jessica “CasKilla” McCaskill’s undisputed welterweight crown in a rematch. There has been no movement on that front. Therefore, she may have to start looking down the organization ranking systems for her next opponent.

THE LIST OF POSSIBLE OPPONENTS

There is two-time title challenger Melissa St Vil (15-4-4, 1KO), who is ranked number one by the WBA and has a four-fight win streak.  She has shared the ring with former champions Eva Wahlstrom and Delfine Persoon.

Magali “Tormenta” Rodriguez (20-6-3, 9KO) is a possibility holding down the number two spot with the WBC. The 30-year-old Mexican defeated Victoire Piteau for the vacant WBC silver title in 2022.

The smart money would be on IBF number two ranked Sandy Ryan (5-1, 2KO). They have a shared history from sparring several rounds in the amateurs as part of team Great Britain. It would be an easy fight to make as they fight under the Matchroom Boxing banner, and it would create a serious buzz with U.K. fans

Then of course, there is the fight she has been wanting for years! A professional meeting with amateur rival Katie Taylor. They are only five pounds away from each other and both are undisputed champions. That would be a huge bout for women’s boxing.
