Usyk Definitely Open To Bellew Fight

Unified cruiserweight champion would be open to bout with star

Earlier this year Tony Bellew had expressed an interest in a possible fight with Oleksandr Uysk if he wins the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament. Bellew moved up from cruiserweight to pursue a big payday fight with United Kingdom rival David Haye at heavyweight, back in 2017 just before the WBSS tournament began.

Now Usyk will be facing Murat Gassiev in the final bout of the tournament, where it will be for undisputed status of the cruiserweight division. Recently in a FightHype interview Usyk has responded that there maybe a chance a fight between himself and Bellew could happen provided he wins.

Bellew, who was the WBC cruiserweight champion before going up to face Haye at heavyweight, was given ‘Emeritus’ title status which basically means he can return to challenge whoever is the champion.

In an interview with BBC sports Bellew hinted that fighting for all the titles would be his last fight, which is a fitting way to close out his career.

The cruiserweight division is loaded with good opponents and fight opportunities and Bellew can still make the weight. A fight between him and Usyk would be huge however don’t overlook Gassiev.
