Oleksandr Usyk Believes Tyson Fury Will Fight Him for Undisputed!
On August 20, unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13KOs) defends his titles in a high-stakes rematch with former champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-2, 22KOs). He enters the second bout as the betting favorite. The looming question that continues to hang over this rematch is whether a possible undisputed showdown with WBC champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (32-0-1, 23KOs) could happen for the winner.
Recently, The Gypsy King announced that he was again retiring. This followed a prior announcement that he was coming back as he attempted to lure former world title challenger Dereck Chisora into a third fight. However, as Fury does so often, he did an about-face, calling it quits. Yet, not too many people believe Fury is truly retired.
During a Fight Hub TV interview, Usyk was asked whether he buys that Fury is truly retired from the ring. He does not.
“I think we’re going to fight him [Tyson Fury].”
Honestly, if Fury doesn’t face the winner, it would be extremely disappointing. The division is in need of an undisputed fight. The fact that all the belts would be on the line would lead most people to think it’s a no-brainer for the fight to happen. Needless to say, everyone wins if the winner goes on to face Tyson Fury.
