Oleksandr Usyk Is the True Standard-bearer; Not Canelo Or Tank

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) has established himself as the pre-eminent fighter in the sport. It’s time for the boxing community to recognize his achievements and greatness. Furthermore, he deserves the distinction of being the sport’s modern standard-bearer over undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Some in the boxing community argue that other fighters are more deserving, such as Canelo and Tank, due to their popularity. Others will campaign for WBA 154-pound belt-holder Terence “Bud” Crawford. However, no fighter has a better resume since 2018 in which Usyk became a two-division undisputed champion.

Alvarez’s level of competition has tailed off in recent years, while Davis has yet to even engage in a unification fight despite being a world champion since 2017! Like Usyk, Crawford is also a two-division undisputed champion.

What separates Usyk from Bud is that the heavyweight champion is a consistently more exciting fighter while being just as dominant. It’s become quite clear that Usyk is the current true face of boxing.
