Valdez returns in January; looking to unify in 2019!

Undefeated WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez is looking to return in January, with hopes of a unification fight in 2019.

27 year old Valdez (24-0, 19 KOs) hasn’t been in the ring since the Scott Quigg contest earlier this year, where he suffered a broken jaw.

The Mexican born fighter is targeting a return soon along with interest of possible unification fight. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has mentioned making a fight with Carl Frampton as far back as early last year.

Recent rumors indicate that wish could finally become a reality. Arum claims to have spoken with Frampton’s promoter Frank Warren. Provided a victory against current IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington, we may see a long overdue unification bout in the featherweight division.

Warrington could have something to say about that. Knowing that a bigger fight could be possible down the line will be extra motivation. With both men being promoted by Warren, whoever the victor, this could be a major fight.

These kinds of moves are the reason fans and pundits are excited about 2019.
