Andre Ward talks Canelo Alvarez v Caleb Plant!
Former two-division world champion and Hall of Famer Andre “SOG” Ward (32-0, 16KOs) has been in the news lately. No, it’s not because of a potential return to the ring. It’s due to pictures and video that hit the internet of him and IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant in the gym. This is big in the boxing community because Plant is set to take on four-division champion Canelo Alvarez on November 6 in their undisputed title fight.

Plant, who’s a significant underdog, reached out to Ward to get some tips and advice ahead of this big fight. Ward is a great fighter with an impeccable boxing IQ and skills. SOG was known for his ability to box and adapt inside the squared circle. He also reigned as the super middleweight and light heavyweight kingpin during his career. So reaching out to a guy as accomplished as Ward makes sense.
NOT A TOOL SHORT
Ward, who is a boxing commentator for Top Rank on ESPN, was asked if believed Plant could win. He told Fighthype the following:
“I think he has everything it takes to win the fight. Now, you know, he’s got to take all of that and he’s got to go do it. I don’t want to interject myself too much into this because he’s had a team that’s been grinding with him, working with him for years. So this is not…it’s easy to kind of talk about me right now because of the video came out and the photos came out. But this man has had a team in place for a long time. Caleb is extremely disciplined with his weight outside of camp. He works extremely hard, whether he has a fight on the books or not and you know all of that stuff puts him position to win.”
Reaching out to Andre Ward signals that Caleb Plant is not leaving any stone unturned in fight preparations. On November 6, we will learn if it was all enough to pull of a massive upset and become undisputed super middleweight champion.
