Frank Warren Issues Team Joshua Swift Deadline to Sign Fury Contract!
The boxing community is paying close attention to the situation between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson “Gypsy King” Fury (32-0-1, 23KO) and former unified champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-3, 22KO). With a possible showdown looking to happen next, Fury’s Promoter, Frank Warren CEO of Queensberry Promotions, is giving Team Joshua a deadline to sign the offer.
THE CALL-OUT AND THE OFFER
Fury was not happy after learning the fight with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk was not going to happen until 2023. In the aftermath, Gypsy King decided to target fellow his countryman in Joshua. Fury made what some believe to be a very generous offer with a 60/40 purse split.
Joshua and Hearn have agreed to take the fight. However, Fury will not wait too long for them to agree to the terms. The WBC champion has been trolling social media with videos of a countdown for Joshua to return the offer, signed.
TEAM JOSHUA IS ON THE CLOCK
During an interview with iFL TV, Warren let it be known a short deadline and that some of the terms are non-negotiable.
“This is not a mandatory defense. This is Tyson being magnanimous and giving AJ a route back. And as I said, 60/40 is great […] if there is a rematch, it’s split 50/50, and that’s the end of it. They’re not negotiable points at all.”
“The offer’s there, and we need an answer. quickly […] if they do not come back with the thumbs up, then we move on.”
Warren did not hesitate to reply when asked for a deadline they are giving Team Joshua.
“Yeah. Today!”
As of the writing of this article, it has not been reported if Team Joshua has signed the contract.
