Josh Warrington and Shakur Stevenson trade words over social media.
In today’s era of boxing a lot trash talk happens behind a computer or mobile device. With so many social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram easily accessible, disputes spread like wildfire!
When it comes to Shakur Stevenson and IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington that’s exactly what happened.
After making quick work of Alberto Guevara in three rounds in front of a raucous crowd in his hometown, Stevenson yet again called for a fight with the champion.
To further get his message across to the champion, he took to Twitter.
“Yo [Warrington] U free in December? I’ll be more then honored to come to England!”
Warrington responded:
“Get your self a belt son and i’ll be more than welcoming for you.”
The final word would be had by Stevenson:
“You so soft for that… Scary a** boa.”
Warrington is coming off a highly disputed split decision win against rival Kid Galahad on June 15. His promoter Frank Warren has a strong working relationship with Stevenson’s promoter Bob Arum.
At (12-0, 7KOs) Stevenson is closing in on a title opportunity.
Stevenson is ranked number 3 in the IBF with the top two positions vacant. Therefore, when it’s time for a mandatory challenger to be determined there’s a strong likelihood he could be named as the next challenger for Warrington.
Stevenson is also ranked number one in the WBO and WBA rankings. Needless to say, the Newark native is in prime position for a title shot either later this year or in 2020.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
