Brian Castaño stripped of WBA regular title/ Michel Soro vs Erislandry Lara ordered.

WBA regular junior middleweight title holder Brian Castaño from Argentina was stripped of his title for turning down a rematch with WBA Gold champion Michel Soro . Notably, Castaño defeated Soro via split decision back in July 2017.

The Argentine champion has been the champ since he disposed of Emmaneul Dejesus in 6 rounds in November of 2016. Now, the WBA has ordered Michel Soro vs Erislandy Lara for his now vacant title.

Since Soro’s loss to Castaño, he has been on a three-fight win streak. His last victory was back in December against Greg Vendetti.

As for the Cuban former WBA super champion, he has not been in action since his disputed draw with Castaño back in March. Lara had been a WBA title holder for four years before he lost his super title to now ex-champion Jarrett Hurd.

In their unexpected toe-to-toe battle, Lara was dropped in the final round, giving Hurd the edge on the scorecards. Also, that performance had many fans wondering if Lara’s age was starting to catch up to him.

With his last two fights being a hard fought loss and a disputed draw to Castaño, his performances have been supbar and he seems to be on the decline. The 31-year old Soro may be catching the elder Cuban at the right time!
