WBC Clears a Path for Shadasia Green as Marshall Suffers Injury

Super middleweight contender Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (13-0, 11KO) is poised to compete for the vacant WBC title. However, her opponent won’t be undisputed champion Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall (13-1, 10KO), who is currently sidelined due to an injury.

In April, the WBC ordered the undefeated contender to face then-undisputed champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn. However, the sanctioning body later rescinded the order and permitted Dezurn to square off against Marshall, with the winner earning the right to face The Sweet Terminator afterward.

A TITLE SHOT AT LAST

The Silent Assassin emerged victorious in the title bout. In doing so, she inherited the challenge of confronting what many boxing enthusiasts have dubbed the bogeywoman in Green. Unfortunately, according to the WBC, Marshall will be unable to meet her mandatory challenger due to her injury.

“Savannah Marshall defeated Crews-Dezurn and unfortunately sustained an injury which will keep her outside of the ring at least until April 2024. The WBC Board of Governors has decided to place Savannah Marshall as Champion in Recess and will order a fight for the vacant Super Middleweight world title between Green and an opponent to be designated by The WBC Women Championship Committee.”

Despite being ranked number one by all four major sanctioning bodies, Green will have to settle for competing for one title rather than pursuing undisputed status.

Nonetheless, there remains the potential for her to face Marshall in the future once the latter returns from her injury. 3Kings boxing will continue to monitor this situation to provide any further updates.
