WBO Threatens to Vacate Jessica McCaskill as Champ in 10 Days Unless…
Undisputed welterweight champion Jessica “Caskilla” McCaskill (12-3 5KO) is fresh off a loss to undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron. Now she must answer to the WBO in order to keep her undisputed status intact at welterweight. The WBO has released a statement, giving McCaskill 10 days to acknowledge that she plans on keeping the welterweight title.
THE WBO GIVES MCCASKILL 10 DAYS TO RESPOND
According to the WBO, the undisputed champion agreed to special conditions concerning her title. Even in a loss to Cameron, the organization can declare her title as vacant.
“If McCaskill was successful against Cameron, she would have 10-days after the bout to determine which weight division 140 or 147Lb belts be retained. If McCaskill was not successful against Cameron, her WBO welterweight championship title would be declared vacant.”
“Therefore, based on the foregoing, Ms. McCaskill is hereby ordered to show cause within the next 10 days upon issuance of this notice as to why this Committee should not declare the WBO female welterweight championship vacant.”
WILL TEAM MCCASKILL ACCEPT CAMERON’S CHALLENGE
Team McCaskill will undoubtedly inform the organization they plan on keeping the belt. The next order of business will be to see if they accept the challenge from Cameron to fight for McCaskill’s undisputed status.
The boxing community is eager to see if the rematch will take place. In addition, boxing enthusiasts believe the move down in weight may have affected McCaskill’s performance. They see a chance that fighting at her weight will generate a different result . At the very least, it could improve her performance.
