Has Julian “J-Rock” Williams Quietly Retired From Boxing?
In the not so distant past, super welterweight Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-3-1, 16 KO’s) was one of the hottest names in the division. In fact back in 2019, Williams bested Jarrett Hurd in a tremendous action bout that awarded him the IBF and WBA titles. This granted him a short-stint as the king of the division.
Emphasis is placed on the “short-stint”. Sadly, J-Rock would drop a stunning loss to Jeison Rosario in his next match. Even worse, in what was supposed to be a “comeback fight”, Williams surprised boxing fans again with an underwhelming performance turned loss to journeyman Vladimir Hernandez.
Now, a month shy of being inactive for a full year, Williams has not enjoyed a victory in three years. Naturally, given this abysmal last couple of years in his boxing trade, J-Rock has plummeted from the top 15 of all the major sanctioning bodies’ rankings. A quick perusal of his social media will show that Williams is still very much in tune with the sport. Yet, he is not saying much about anything regarding his participation in it! In fact, his mind appears to be as much, if not more, on the subject of real estate.
IS ANOTHER COMEBACK IN THE WORKS?
Given his rough and tumble style of fighting, past achievements and memorable moments Williams should be able to launch a well-received comeback. J-Rock already proved he is capable of picking up the pieces after he rebounded from an abrupt December 10, 2016 fifth round stoppage loss to Jermall Charlo.
Following this setback, the Philly native would go on a five fight, two-year win streak before running into Jeison Rosario. Is he willing to start from scratch yet again? Is he done once and for all? Of course there is no way to tell if he is not telling.
On the outside looking in though, the forecast on Julian “J-Rock” Williams ring return is getting bleaker by the day! Either way, 3KingsBoxing will remain on the scene until answers are unearthed.
