When Will Rob Brant Return to the Ring?
It’s been over a year since former WBA ‘regular’ 160-pound champion Rob “Bravo” Brant (26-3, 18 KOs) last stepped in the ring. The Minnesota-born fighter was last seen getting thoroughly beaten by current WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly in June of 2021. In that bout, he would be stopped in eight rounds.
RISE TO RELEVANCY
Brant burst on the scene with a big upset win over Ryota Murata to win the WBA ‘regular’ middleweight title in 2018. However, after making one successful defense of his title, his reign as champion would come to a painful end as he was stopped in the rematch with Murata in two rounds.
Since the aforementioned loss to Alimkhanuly, not much has been heard from Brant. However, back in April 2021, he would sue his promoters, Greg Cohen and Cory Rapacz, accusing them of fraud and violating the Muhammad Ali Act. His current legal battle could explain his extended inactivity.
Hopefully the former title holder can get back in the ring, as he’s built himself a solid name in the sport. With the success he’s had, there’s sure to be more significant opportunities for him once he returns.
