Brook and Taylor back in action
The undercard for the Joseph Parker vs Dillian Whyte showdown has been announced. The event will take place on July 28 in London at the O2 Arena.
Kell Brook will be making his return to the ring on the card as he will face Brandon Cook in a super welterweight bout. It will be Brook’s second fight since returning from eye surgery. He easily defeated Siarhei Rabchanka by second round knockout.
Cook was last in the ring in May defeating Miguel Angel Suarez by third round knockout. Should Brook come out victorious a showdown with Amir Khan may be looming in the future.
IBF and WBA lightweight titlist Katie Taylor will also be featured on the card, as she puts her titles on the line against Kimberly Connor. Taylor was last in the ring deafeating Victoria Noelia Bustos back in April by unanimous decision. With the victory Taylor became the unified lightweight champion of the world.
Connor has not been in the ring since July of last year when she defeated Jasmine Clarkson by unanimous decision. Connor has been in the ring with elite competition before as she faced Amanda Serrano in a losing effort. They also have Bustos as a common opponent in a bout the Connor lost as well.
Light heavyweight prospect Joshua Buatsi will also be back in action, when he takes on Ricky Summers. Buatsi was last in the ring on May 5th defeating Stephane Cuevas by fifth round TKO. His promoter Eddie Hearn has showed interest in wanting to match Buatsi against fellow British prospect Anthony Yarde in the near future.
Ricky Summers last fought in April defeating Tayar Mehmed on points. Summers has a pretty good record but lacks the power that will keep Buatsi away from him. This will be a showcase fight for Buatsi at best.
Connor Benn will also be making his return on the card against an opponent yet to be determined. Looks like the card will feature some tremendous talent, to go along with a 50-50 heavyweight showdown for the main event.
