Deontay Wilder declares Oleksandr Usyk as no threat!

While many feel that Oleksandr Usyk is a bonafide threat to the heavyweight contenders and champions, not everyone feel that’s way.

One very important piece to the heavyweight landscape is WBC champion Deontay Wilder. In a recent interview, with Sky Sports Boxing he gave his thoughts on Usyk and the perceived threat to him and every other heavyweight.

“Usyk’s not a threat to me, he’s too small for me. He’ll do a lot of movement and stuff like that, but that don’t faze me.”

Now granted, the cruiserweight king who stands at 6’3 may prove to ultimately be too small for guys such as Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. His skill set is tremendous and he has the boxing skills to not only give those guys a run for their money, but also beat them.

What’s interesting from the champs comments are that the movement from Usyk wouldn’t faze him.

However, I must point out last December when he fought Tyson Fury he was kept in check for majority of fight as Fury kept Wilder out of position with his constant foot movement.

Despite the size advantage, Wilder has to understand the dangers that the former undisputed cruiserweight champion possesses.
