Wilder on Breaking Ali’s Record
When WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO’s) steps in for his rematch with Tyson Fury, there will be a lot on the line. First and foremost his WBC title will be up for grabs, as well as Fury’s lineal status and the Ring Magazine belt. Yet, more importantly for Wilder himself, it will afford him the chance to break Muhammad Ali’s 10 title defense record.
CAN WILDER FIND GREATNESS BY OUTDOING THE GREATEST??
Wilder was first able to tie the impressive marker with his rematch victory over Luis “King Kong” Ortiz. In the build-up to the upcoming rematch with Fury, the Bronze Bomber has frequently highlighted the fact that their bout will take place during Black History Month.
With that being the case, Wilder has repeatedly stated that he will make Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (29-0-1, 20 KO’s) a Black History fact. If he is victorious, Wilder very well could do just that!
“I’m looking forward to this fight, you know. This is everything to me, this is the tie-breaker between me and Muhammad Ali, all-time great, my idol. I’m looking forward to that, to making history with that. I never imagined doing so many great things in the world of boxing and I’m doing them.
I am a living witness that you can be from a little nowhere, you can come from a place that doesn’t even consist of boxing, or boxing is not recognized there and overcome and achieve greatness. And that’s what I am doing, I am leading by example and I just can’t wait to February 22.Tthe Gypsy King is going to get floored to the ground and this time around he definitely is not getting up.”
No matter how you slice it, this heavyweight showdown has more entertaining story lines than the final season of Power! But the only way to find out exactly what happens is to tune in this Saturday February 22!
