Williams and Rosario Both Make Weight!
Well it looks like we got a fight! Both WBA, IBF and IBO world super welterweight champion Julian “J-Rock” Williams (27-1-1, 16 KO’s) and Jeison “Banana” Rosario (19-1-1, 13 KO’s) made weight ahead of their January 18 title fight. Williams tipped the scales to the tune of 153.3 lbs, while Rosario came in at 153.1 lbs. The main event bout will air live on FOX from the Liacouras Center located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The eagerly anticipated event will stand as a notable premiere fight for each contestant. For J-Rock, he will be fighting in his hometown of Philly for the first time since turning professional. Just as well, he will be making the first defense of his trio of titles. When Rosario slides through the ropes, he will be making his first attempt at capturing a world title.
Following the weigh-in, at the face-off, Williams was all business, whereas Rosario was clearly elated and simply enjoying the morning. Banana appeared to have a hard time keeping a smile off his face when confronting the ice-grill that Williams threw back at him. Regardless of their unequal energy at the stare down, come Saturday night, each will be deadly serious once in the ring!
