Julian Williams vs Errol Spence…maybe?
More than two months after his upset victory over Jarrett Hurd, new unified junior middleweight champion Julian “J-rock” Williams is eager to get an even bigger name in the ring.
He’s so eager that he has turned his attention to IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence. The Dallas native is currently gearing up for his huge high-stakes unification with WBC champion Shawn Porter.
Initially, the unified champion threw WBA and IBF middlweight champion Canelo Alvarez’ name out there via social media. However, he acknowledged the fight probably wouldn’t happen due to “politics.”
Williams’ trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards proposed the idea on 3kingsboxing.com affiliate Black Fight Fan TV‘s podcast on YouTube.
According to Black Fight Fan Tv, Spence replied via text stating he’s “cool with the fight!”
While this fight would be highly intriguing and exciting to watch, both men have unfinished business in their respective weight classes. Williams is likely to be facing Hurd in a rematch later this year and is two titles away from undisputed.
As for Spence his fight with Porter will make him a unified champion if victorious and the fight fans will still want to see is a unification against WBO champion Terence Crawford.
Although, this is boxing and things can change at the blink of an eye!
