Xander Zayas Believes In The Direction His Career Is Heading
On August 13, one of boxing’s best prospects, Xander Zayas (13-0, 9KOs), returns to action against Elias “Latin Kid” Espadas (22-4, 15KOs). The young Puerto Rican sensation has been tabbed as a future world champion in the sport and will look to continue his ascent against a fighter that’s never been stopped in 26 career fights.

At twenty years old, his handlers at Top Rank have been careful not to move him at a pace he’s not quite ready for. With a bright future seemingly ahead of him, Zayas expressed to Fight Hype that he is happy with the direction his career is currently headed, as well as making the leap from prospect to contender.
“I feel like you know we’re moving in the right direction and we’re doing everything right. This is fight number fourteen. Fighting for a regional title with a great opponent, a veteran opponent that’s never been knocked out.
“I’m looking forward to going out there and putting on a show and showing the world why I’m one of the best prospects and why I’m coming for everybody in my weight class.”
If he continues to develop as he’s been doing so far, he’s going to be a real problem for any fighter in and around his division for a long time to come.
