Yakosta Valle Wants To Unify The Minimumweight Division
A storm coming in the women’s minimumweight division in the form of a significant unification between the two top fighters of the division. IBF champ Yokasta Valle (25-2, 9KO) and WBA champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada are on track for a possible showdown.
Valle is a two-division champion and the second-longest reigning champion in the division. In her American debut, Valle successfully defended the title for the fifth time in Estrada’s backyard of California against late replacement Lorraine Villalobos on June 11.
Her only two losses came at the hands of five-divisional champion Naoko Fujioka and WBC champion Tina Rupprecht. Before her bout with Villalobos, she expressed wanting to face any of the champions in the division. This means the WBO champ Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi, a revenge bout with Rupprecht, and who some view as the best fighter in the lower weight division, Estrada.
THE CALL-OUT AND THE RESPONSE
During the post-fight interview, Valle doubled down on wanting all the smoke with everyone including Estrada.
“Of course, I’ve always said that I want to fight against any of the champions. I want to unify the titles, whether that’s with Seniesa Estrada, Tina [Rupprecht], and Nguyen. I want to fight against any of the champions.“
Estrada is a two-divisional champion and the 3kingsboxing 2021 Female Fighter of the Year has expressed wanting to unify. She took to social media shortly afterward with a message for Valle.
Golden Boy Promotions needs to make this unification a top priority!
