Zhilei Zhang and Tyson Fury in Communication for a Possible Summer Bout
WBO Interim Heavyweight champion Zhilei Zhang (25-1-1, 15 KOs) would love to fight any of the big names in the division. Could his next fight be against the current WBC champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs)?
Fury recently announced that a return to the ring is imminent. Word on the street is he’s targeting to fight in July. Zhang and former unified champion Andy Ruiz have emerged as leading candidates to face the undefeated WBC champion.

HOPING HE GETS THE FIGHT
Big Bang recently sat down with the UK news source iFL TV to discuss a potential battle against Fury in either England or Zhang’s home country of China. The interim champ said that talks are currently underway.
“I just came back from my vacation. So, everything is fresh to me. I believe that my team has made communications with their team on that matter.
“I believe when you talk about the Chinese market, it may not be the biggest pay-per-view market in the whole universe. But we have the most loyal boxing fans and the most rapid growing boxing market. I believe that it’s the best for Tyson Fury to fight me and make it a big deal.
“[…] Let’s do it, Tyson. If you’re looking at July, I’ll be ready for you in July.”
Zhang is coming off a sixth-round stoppage over Joe Joyce on April 15. Many experts viewed the result as an upset, but Zhang came into the bout confident that he would win. Now he wants to take full advantage of his position.
China is a world superpower that has invested in pro boxing over the last decade. They have the financial capital and resources that could entice Fury. If Fury vs Zhang were to happen in England, Zhang would take it without hesitation. However, if that potential fight occurs in China, it would be icing on the proverbial cake for Zhang and for Chinese sports.
