Adam Azim Scores Late Stoppage Over Sergey Lipinets
Junior welterweight Adam “The Assassin” Azim (13-0, 10KO) stopped former champion Sergey “Samurai” Lipinets (18-4-1, 13KO) in the ninth round.
The Samurai came out trying to apply pressure by coming forward and landed solid shots that put Azim on the back foot early. Yet, The Assassin cranked up the offense and landed hard countershots. A left hook put Lipinets on the canvas in the third round. However, Azim gave back that point from the knockdown after getting deducted a point for a low blow in the fourth round.
Azim controlled the fight with fast and accurate combination punches in the middle rounds. In addition, he did a supreme job of using the angles that kept Lipinets off balance. For some reason, he landed another low blow, resulting in a second-point deduction in the seventh round.
Listening to the corner, Azim abandoned the body and found a home for those uppercuts. After landing a barrage of brutal uppercuts, the referee stopped the fight to prevent a bloody Lipinets from taking more damage in the ninth round.
Azim delivered a message to rival countryman Dalton Smith during the post-fight interview.
