Season five winner of The Contender, Brandon Adams mulls over two big opportunities!
It appears that in 2019, winning “The Contender” still holds some weight. While some feel the show has lost some luster since its inception, it has propelled its most recent winner Brandon Adams into some big opportunities!
His personality could have played a part also as he was in the media in late 2018 claiming he would knockout unified middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez!
Adams told media sources this week he is currently weighing offers to fight divisional stars Gennady Golovkin or Jermall Charlo. This is a great position to be in considering most boxing pundits hadn’t heard of him prior to the show.
Before winning the tournament, he was a 17-2 prospect with a decision loss to title challenger Willie Monroe being his most notable bout. He then went on a four-fight win streak culminating in a series winning fight against son of future Hall of Fame inductee, Shane Mosley Jr.
The win netted him a career high $250,000 payday and a #10 ranking from the WBA. For Adams, it appears to have turned into big offers to fight two of the division’s best!
As of this writing, it is unknown which opportunity if either he will take. One thing is for sure, both fights give him the opportunity to advance his position in the middleweight division. Furthermore, it appears he has “The Contender” to thank for that.
