Nicola Adams hopes to return in a flyweight unification bout!

UK promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions has recently announced that recently upgraded WBO female flyweight champion Nicola “The Lioness” Adams (5-0, 3 KO’s) will return to action against an undetermined opponent on September 27.

The two-time Olympic Gold medalist will fight at the Royal Albert Hall on a card headlined by heavyweights Daniel DuBois v Ebenezer Tetteh.

While there is no set opponent, efforts are being made to contract a fight between the winner of IBF champion Leonela Paola Yudica (16-0-3, 0 KO’s) and Isabel “La Estrella La Catrina” Millan (25-5-1, 9 KO’s). That bout is set for August 16 at the Estadio Aldo Cantoni, located in San Juan, San Juan, Argentina.

Yudica has held the title for nearly five full years. The bout against Millan will mark Yudica’s ninth title defense.

Provided that the victor of the Yudica v Millan match emerges unscathed, the idea is to then contract a September 27 unification bout against Nicola Adams. On a side note, the Lioness has already fought and defeated Millan last October 6, 2018.

In fact, her bout about La Estrella La Catrina was Adams’ last professional outing . Naturally, Millan would find great vindication if she could topple Yudica, acquire her belt, then get a second crack at Adams.

However, given the timing at which the Yudica vs Millan bout takes place relative to when Adams’ return is slated, it is unlikely the winner will commit to such a turnaround bout with little time to train.
