Adeleye vs Tshikeva Rematch Needs To Happen Next
The referee’s costly judgment crowned David “Big D” Adeleye (13-1, 12KO) as the new British heavyweight champion over Jeamie “TKV” Tshikeva (8-2, 5KO). A rematch should be scheduled immediately following an investigation.
TKV did an excellent job of boxing and moving, which gave Big D plenty of trouble early. Adeleye threw wild looping punches that put him off balance and opened for Tshikeva counter shots. In the sixth round, the referee not only yelled break but slapped down Tshikeva’s arm.
It’s a clear indication that he wanted both fighters to stop punching. Yet, Adeleye landed a hard hook, putting TKV on the canvas. Despite getting up, Tshikeva couldn’t recover and was stopped after getting dropped a second time.
Undoubtedly Tshikeva’s team will appeal and should win as the footage shows the infraction by the referee. The British Board of Commissions should order an immediate rematch without hesitation.
Adeleye was starting to come on, but that doesn’t justify how the referee completely blew the call. Furthermore, the referee should have given TKV a chance to recover. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks.
