Agit Kabayel’s Rise And The Potential Clash With Frank Sanchez

Undefeated heavyweight Agit Kabayel (24-0, 16KO) has emerged from the shadows and should look to challenge top contender Frank “The Cuban Flash” Sanchez (24-0, 17KO).

On December 23, Kabayel turned in a career performance with a fourth-round beatdown of top contender “Lion” Arslanbek Makhmudov. In addition, he applied a brutal body attack that turned the roaring Lion into a whimpering puppy.

This was the showing the German needed on the Day of Reckoning mega-card that had all eyes in the boxing world watching.

A GOOD MATCH-UP AGAINST A TOP CONTENDER

Some boxing enthusiasts are not surprised by what they witnessed. On May 4, Kabayel showed tremendous heart by overcoming adversity to capture the EBU title by stopping Agron Smakici.

Boxing fans may even remember him once being a sparring partner for two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua. After such a significant victory comes the question of what is next for the undefeated fighter.

Ranked #12 by the IBF and #13 by both the WBC and WBO, a good match-up stylistically for Kabayel is against The Cuban Flash.

Both guys are good boxers who know how to use the ring and can build off the jab.

Sanchez’s footwork, quick hands, and counter-punching have proven hard to deal with once he gets going. In his last outing, he laid waste to Junior Fa, after a slow start on the same card as the undefeated German.

Kabayel’s movement, body attack, and improved ring IQ are just as formidable. In addition, both men are very good at allowing the knockout to come. This fight has the potential to be a high-level chess match featuring two very good undefeated fighters.

As 2024 approaches, the heavyweight division is full of promising match-ups and talented new challengers.
