Albert Bell Proclaims His Desire to Win a World Championship!
On May 13, super featherweight fighter “Prince” Albert Bell (23-0, 6 KO’s) captured a wide unanimous decision win over William Encarnacion. Now, three months later nearly to the day, the Toledo, Ohio born fighter is heading back to the ring to tangle with Presco “The Iceman” Carcosia (11-2-1, 9 KO’s). There is not doubt that Bell is happy to stay busy honing his craft and sliding a few shekels in his pocket. Yet, underneath it all, Prince is climbing the WBO ranks in hopes of securing a world title.
THE LAST MAN STANDING
At this current time, Bell, ranked #2 WBO and #10 WBC, is within striking distance of WBO super featherweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete. Regardless of Bell’s strategic ranking however, the WBO champion is all set to fight #1 WBO bruiser Oscar Valdez on August 12. Thankfully, minus a preference for one of the styles. it wouldn’t seem that Bell would care one way or the other who won.
If Navarrete defends his title, then presumably Valdez would fall in rankings and Prince logically would be elevated. The same sequence should apply if Valdez dethroned Navarrete. Therefore, in either case, Bell should be in a perfect position to challenge the champion when the fur stops flying.
Of course anything from physical catastrophe to boxing politics can derail a fight, but it seems that the man from Toledo is on the verge of challenging for a world title. The only catch is that Bell has to keep winning. Any single stumble, bad performance or loss can lead to him tumbling to the bottom of the standings. So, first let’s wait and see if he can handle his business one more time and keep his record spotless.
