Alexis Rocha vs Raul Curiel Produces No Winners
In a welterweight classic back-and-forth battle, Alexis “Lex” Rocha (25-2-1, 16KO) and Raul “Cugar” Curiel (15-0-1, 13KO) fought to a draw.
Cugar came out boxing behind the jab. He even found a home for the right hand early. He looked comfortable fighting off the front foot, landing the eye-catching shots early.
Yet, Lex turned things around by throwing fast combination punches. He mixed up the attack, which put Curiel on the backfoot. Rocha remained disciplined by refusing to brawl, frustrating the undefeated fighter with movement and counterpunches.
Curiel adjusted by pressing forward and found a home for the uppercuts. He was having success landing more combination punches as Rocha decided to stop boxing and slug it out.
Rocha came alive and started attacking the body. However, he couldn’t avoid those uppercuts that staggered him momentarily.
Down the stretch, both men traded hard shots as Rocha turned up the heat with a vicious body attack. Yet, Curiel fired back with brutal uppercuts.
In the end, one judge scored it 116-112, while the other two scored it 114-114, making it a draw. 3Kings Boxing agrees with the judges.
In the in-ring post-fight interview, the fighters agreed on a rematch next.
