David Allen taken to hospital after loss to David Price!
Dave Allen’s bout with David price was supposed to be a springboard for him into bigger fights. Instead, it turned into a one-sided defeat at the hands of the older fighter many felt was on the verge of retirement!
Allen was the favorite going into this fight. However, he was simply outclassed and beaten up by the 6’8″ fighter, who was fighting to remain relevant in the heavyweight division.
After ten plus rounds of getting hit repeatedly by thudding shots, Allen made a decision that probably saved his life. He decided to forgo any more punishment, letting his trainer Darren Barker know he wanted out of the fight!
Afterwards, he was taken to the hospital by wheelchair for further observation and testing as a precaution.
Normally, the decision to quit results in harsh criticism from fans, pundits and fellow boxers. However, when the body clearly feels different and let’s you know it, pay attention and recognize that you have to do what’s in your best interest, health-wise.
This incident is why all men and women who decide to box should be respected and appreciated. This sport can change a fighters life for the better with a huge victory or for the worse with either too much punishment sustained or from one single blow!
