Caleb Plant easily stops Mike Lee in three!

Newly-crowned champion Caleb Plant (18-0, 10KOs) is defending his title for the first time against also undefeated challenger Mike Lee (21-0, 11KOs). There’s plenty of bad blood between both fighters, so this should be an exciting fight.

The Breakdown

One thing that’s immediately evident is that the IBF champion has much faster hands and a superior pedigree. He simply sees what he needs to do and executes it.

With 29 seconds to go in the first round, Plant drops Lee with a beautiful left hook. The knockdown was a product of many landed jabs.

In the first minute of round three, Plant viciously drops Lee with a right-hand down the pipe. The challenger gets up and rushes Plant.

For his efforts, he is sent to the canvas with a three-punch combination. Lee gets up too fast and rushes the champion one more time, and receives another left hook to end matters. The controversy regarding Mike Lee not looking at Plant during the weigh in seemed to motivate the champ and it showed.

In the post-fight, Plant made it very clear that he’d like to fight the winner of Anthony Dirrell vs David Benavides. It’s great for fans to see the champion is ready to attempt to unify. As for Mike Lee, he might want to look to work his way through some of the lower tier fighters and gain some experience.

  1. This fight should have been held at Barnum and Bailey, one little monkey taps one on head and other little monkey falls down. Pitiful showing, and the sadthing is people actually paid to see the little monkey show
