The IBF ordees Felix Alvarado vs Randy Petalcorin shortly after Hekkie Budler vacates.
3kingsboxing previously reported that IBF Flyweight Champion Hector “Hekkie” Budler would vacate due to low purse bid.
Simple logic would see the next highest ranking fighters compete. Consequently, the IBF has decided to do just that. They have ordered Felix Alvarado (33-2, 29 KOs) to face Randy Petalcorin (29-2-1, 22 KOs) for the vacant title.
Petalcorin, a 26 year old Filipino boxer, is a former WBA interim Flyweight Champion. Currently, he holds the IBF Pan Pacific Flyweight title. This is his first opportunity at a major world title and the biggest test of his career.
2016 saw some setbacks for Petalcorin. However, he has since won seven fights in a row; including two consecutive victories by knockout.
Alvarado, a 29 year old Nicaraguan native, fully understands what this opportunity means. After losing in two consecutive title chances for the WBA World Flyweight title, this match offers a chance at redemption. He came up short in 2013 against Juan Carlos Reveco , and again in 2014 against Kazuto Ioka.
Alvarado brings championship level experience and a power advantage to this match up. Of late, he has enjoyed a fifteen-fight win streak and the decor of the WBC Latino Flyweight title.
Although, we still have to hope a financial agreement can be made that’s suitable for both sides.
As always, 3kingsboxingwill continue to follow this story.
