Eleider Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev rematched headed to 2019!
After exercising his rematch clause, the former champion Kovalev will get a chance to avenge his loss to Alvarez. He’ll just have to wait until 2019 to do so. 3kingsboxing.com has learned that the rematch will likely happen at the end of January.
Initially, the rematch was rumored to take place in late November, early December. However, plans have been changed.
The first fight took place in Atlantic City at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. While there was no specific mention of the location for the rematch, its expected to take place again somewhere on the East coast.
Kathy Duva had this to say about the potential locations for the fight:
“It’s going to be where Canadians can drive to, that gives us New York, New Jersey Connecticut, Pennsylvania. These are the kind of places Canadians can get to and they definitely came to the first one. So I’d imagine we’d get them back.”
What’s still unknown is who will televise the rematch. HBO has already declined to.

That’s not too long of a delay, Jerrell. I think Alvarez catches Krusher again. It will be interesting to see where he goes from there if he does.
