Eleider Alvarez – Jesse Hart to fight on the Fury – Schwartz undercard!
In 2018, Eleider Alvarez scored one of the upsets of the year when he stopped Sergey Kovalev to win the WBO Light Heavyweight title. Fighting in a rematch on February 2, Kovalev would regain his title by clear-cut unanimous decision.
The question then became “what’s in the future for the fighter they call ‘Storm?'”
3KingsBoxing has previously reported that negotiations were taking place for the former light heavyweight champion to face Jesse Hart in June. We’re here to provide an update on that proposed fight.
While nothing has been officially announced, Alvarez and Hart will not only fight it June, the two will face off on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Tom Shwartz on June 15 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Jesse Hart recently posted that his next fight will be against the former light heavyweight champion.
This bout represents a crossroads for both men. Alvarez will be looking to regain some ground after losing the world title and wants to remain in the light heavyweight landscape.
Hart is moving up to after two unsuccessful attempts against current WBO Super Middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez. The problem for Hart is that light heavyweight is arguably the best division in the sport right now.
Therefore, it will be difficult for him to make significant inroads, even against the likes of the older Colombian fighter.
