Alycia Baumgardner Can Return To Boxing After WBC’s Decision
Undisputed junior lightweight champion Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (15-1, 7KO), can now set her sights on returning to the ring after the WBC’s official decision.
After her rematch victory against two-time WBO junior welterweight champion Christina Lindartou, Baumgardner’s name went viral on a positive test for adverse findings for a banned substance.
THE DECISION
The Bomb spent the remainder of 2023 sidelined, grappling with the fallout, and consistently asserting her innocence. Fortunately, the WBC’s ruling supports her claim by stating she is not guilty of intentionally ingesting the banned substance.
The undisputed champion quickly posted a response on social media upon hearing the news.

“The patience I had to have during this whole ordeal has been very testing. But I kept my faith in the Lord… thankful for my team and for the people who have supported me through this. My integrity outshines the wickedness.”
Baumgardner faced being released of her title, especially following a petition by QueensBerry Promotions putting pressure on the organization.
The undisputed champion will have wait before returning back into the ring. The WBC has placed her on a one-year probation from the day the sample was taken on July 12, 2023.
While on probation, the WBC has made it clear that any further issues concerning a failed test result will result in immediate action without any further inquiries.
Baumgardner has been generating buzz on social media due to her ongoing feud with two-division undisputed champion Claressa Shields. The two have engaged in a heated verbal exchange, leaving boxing fans to wonder if a fight will eventually happen.
Upon her return to the ring, Baumgardner will undoubtedly be looking to release a lot of frustration on her next opponent.
