Demetrius Andrade Endorses Victor Conte and SNAC Facilities
On November 25, two-division champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (32-0, 19 KO’s) will slide through the ropes to take on David Benavidez. Surrounding this fight is a strong belief that it will be a stringent test for both competitors. Given the forecast of the impending storm, each boxer is certain to prepare to the best of their abilities. For his part, Andrade has elected to complete a large portion of his camp at the SNAC (Scientific Nutrition for Advanced Conditioning) facilities.
“I’ve been working with Victor [Conte] for many years now and I’ve had a few camps here. And one thing I know is there is no monkey business here. If there is monkey business, you’re going to be held accountable for it and you’re going to get punished and treated in a way that you’re supposed to. No matter if you’re a grown man or not, it is what it is. We’re here for business.”
A HISTORY OF SCIENCE
SNAC is well-known for their innovative and technology-heavy training methods. The organization is also highly recognized due the founder and Chief Executive Victor Conte. Conte, a sports nutritionist, has been a staple in numerous sporting arenas for decades. He founded BALCO Laboratories in 1984 and later SNAC in 1987. In scandalous fashion however, Conte would go on to plead guilty to one count of distributing steroids and one count of money laundering before United States District Judge Susan Illston in San Francisco back in 2005.
At the time of his arrest and trial, he was working with some of the finest baseball and track athletes in the world. His guilty plea would coincide with a short stint in jail and house arrest. Once his obligations to the state were fulfilled, Conte dove right back into the field. Since resuming his work with professional athletes, Conte has both, maintained a spotless record and been an extremely loud proponent of enforcing a clean sport.
REBUILT AND REPURPOSED?
In this current age of boxing, fighters are being flagged for PED’s at a rather alarming rate. So, it stands as another feather in his cap that Conte has remained consistently affiliated with some of boxing’s squeakier clean fighters such as: Caleb Plant, Devin Haney and Shawn Porter. Likewise, long-time professional Andrade himself has never been found on the wrong side of a drug test. Therefore, for the time being, it certainly appears that Victor Conte learned his lesson.
Now, let’s see if Conte and his team at SNAC can aid Andrade in toppling the bigger and younger Benavidez. Thankfully for the fans, this high-stakes shootout is just right around the corner. And no matter who walks away the victor, 3Kings Boxing will be here to outline all the news and implications.
